The annual inflation rate for the month of October has reduced to 9.7 percent from 9.9 percent recorded in the previous month
Zambia Statistician Agency (Zamstat) Interim Statistician General Mulenga Musepa has attributed the reduction in the inflation rate to the slowdown in the price movement in food items.
Meanwhile Mr. Musepa says the food monthly inflation rate was recorded -0.4 percent compared to -0.2 percent the previous month
He says this is attributed to the upwards price movement in food items such as fish, vegetables, fruit among others.
Mr. Musepa says whilst the non- food inflation rate increased was at 0.2 percent from 0.6 percent in September
He says due to the increase in lubricants, hummer mills and other transport items among others.
