Israeli firm targets Chambeshi Water Company

AN Israeli firm has expressed interest to invest in Chambeshi Water and Sewerage Company in Northern Province.
This came to light when Chambeshi Water and Sewerage Company managing director, Lackson Simumba and YH Irrigation and Control System Limited president, Yizhar Halevi called on Northern Province Permanent Secretary at his office yesterday.
Eng. Simumba said the Israeli team was in the province to explore how best it could help Chambeshi Water to enhance and improve efficiency in its service delivery.
He explained that the Israeli company showed interest to invest in the water utility firm after listening to a presentation on the investment opportunities found in the water sector in the province.
Eng. Simumba further said that, the interest by YH to invest in the company had come at a better time when Chambeshi was putting up new water infrastructure in Mbala and Kasama districts.
Meanwhile, Provincial Permanent Secretary, Charles Sipanje said the interest by an Israeli company to invest in the water sector would help improve efficiency in Chambeshi Water.
He said his administration welcomed any investment that would see Chambeshi Water Company improves its water network system and bring efficiency and profitability.
Mr Sipanje indicated that government would support such initiatives as they helped improve the lives of people in rural areas by providing them with clean, safe and quality water.
And YH president, Yizhar Halevi said he was optimistic that investing in Chambeshi Water and Sewerage Company would help improve the current capacity of the water utility company.
Mr Yizhar said while in the province, his team which was on a fact finding mission, would establish the water quality, control systems from source and distribution to the consumer and how best they could be improved.-ZANIS
