As the public signal distributor in the country, TopStar has continued to promote the local TV broadcast industry by adding three Zambian TV stations to the satellite dish bouquet.

TopStar vice president Cliff Sichone has disclosed that the public signal distributor is excited to be carrying more Zambian channels beyond the digital terrestrial transmission network.

“We have the widest terrestrial signal coverage that carry over 20 indigenous Zambian TV Stations over a network of 64 transmitters across all ten provinces,” Mr Sichone said.

“TopStar is excited to announce that in the past week – three Zambian TV stations have been added to the satellite dish service. These are Agribusiness News (ABN), Diamond and Fresh TV.

“And in line with the trends in digital TV, the three TV stations are also available on the StarTimes ON App. Which provides video on demand and live streaming,” he said.

Mr Sichone said the introduction of Zambian channels to the StarTimes ON APP was a sign that the Zambian TV industry is not being left behind in the digital business market.

“TopStar is not only the public signal distributor, but also runs a subscriber management business that requires constant innovation and customer retention. By introducing ABN TV, Diamond TV and Fresh TV to the StarTimes ON APP, we are ensuring that we play our part in the digital business market.”

Mr Sichone added that the StarTimes ON APP is taking advantage of the growing business opportunities that internet based services provide.

“The StarTimes ON APP is available to TopStar subscribers and non-subscribers as a Live TV and video on demand platform. Meaning that your mobile device can be used as an extension of your decoder allowing you to catch up on current affairs or entertainment videos from the palm of your hand,” said Mr Sichone in an interview.

The three channels added to the mobile APP are Agri-Business News (ABN) TV, Diamond TV and Fresh TV. These join the Zambian National Broadcasting Corporation channels of ZNBC TV1 and ZNBC TV2.
