Civil Servants and Allied Workers Union of Zambia (CSAWUZ) says it is shocked over reports that the NAPSA act have been assented to when the law is still in parliament and is expected to be under consultation.

Yesterday, President Hakainde Hichilema announced that he has assented to the National pension scheme bill that will provide for options for partial withdraw of benefits under NAPSA.

But CASAWAZ president Davy Chiyobe says according to the information available to the union the NAPSA Act is on second reading in parliament and is yet to be implemented.

Mr Chiyobe says the union has been following up on the matter to see to it that its members are able to benefit.

However Mr Chiyobe says the union is consulting government over the matter to get clarity.

Meanwhile Former Ministry of Labour Permanent Secretary Chanda Kaziya says the bill that was assented to is the Zambia national provident fund which is part of the NAPSA bill and not the partial withdraw of benefits.

Mr Chanda says the assented bill will only deal with Zambia national provident fund and NAPSA penalty waiver.

He says whilst the bill to do with the partial withdraw is still in parliament and waiting enactment before the president can assent.

When contacted the ministry of labor and social security said they will issues a comprehensive statement to give clarity on the matter
