AN online  payment  solution called Zesco SmartPay designed for post-paid customers in the business sector  has  been developed and launched by Zesco in conjunction with Stanbic Bank.

This initiative will enable post-paid  customers with Stanbic Bank accounts  to electronically settle Zesco electricity and capital contribution bills using a smart phone  or  computer at the customers’ convenience for as long as  they  have internet connection.

The  initiative  which has operated since July 12, 2021 was attained through an integration between  the Zesco Limited Customer Management System (CMS) and the Stanbic SmartPay.

This is according to a joint statement  signed by Zesco Public Relations Manager, Hazel Zulu and Stanbic Bank Brand, Perry Siame.

“The system will not only create payment convenience but also enhance revenue collection and reduce the number of queues in walk-in customer centres.

“We are delighted to mention that as of  November 17, 2021, the platform had connected  about 239 customers, which affirms the  timeliness of this  smart solution for our business customers” according  to the statement.

The two institutions stated  that  the  solution could not have come at a better time than this when most businesses were devising ways of transacting electronically without any physical  contact to avert the  spread of the  deadly coronavirus pandemic.

“We are confident that the ZESCO post-paid module on SmartPay will alleviate  the challenges currently  faced by  clients  through cash deposits or cheques,” the statement stated.
