GOVT SHOULD BAN TOBACCO SMOKING IN ZAMBIA

Written by on July 21, 2019

I COULD not agree more with Dr Pelham Hazeley, a breast cancer expert who has observed that increased tobacco and alcohol intake is fueling breast cancer cases among women in Zambia.

People, especially women, should pay attention to Dr. Hazeley who is Primary Medical Centre executive director is saying and go for breast cancer screening for early detection and treatment.

Breast cancer is among the commonest cancers reported among women worldwide and it is frightening that cases are rising in developing countries such as Zambia.

But in her esteemed wisdom, Dr. Hazeley is also encouraging men and women to conduct regular self-examination and be aware of their health and seek medical attention to prolong their lives.

This message is loud and clear and people should heed Dr Hazeley’s message seriously to prolong their lives.

Smoking is very harmful to our health and it in many cases cause lung cancer among other medical conditions although the side effects are long-term.

I would earnestly advise our Zambian Government to ban smoking completely.

The issue of banning smoking in public is no longer working because many smokers have completely ignored this ban, hence it is now affecting non-smokers (passive smokers).
