Chief Chikwanda hails Ng’andu appointment

THE appointment of Bank of Zambia deputy governor operations Dr Bwalya Ng’andu as new Finance Minister ha cheered chief Chikwanda of Mpika
Chief Chikwanda told the Sun in an interview that the appointment of Dr Ng’andu as finance minister had come at a time when Zambia was undergoing economic hardships.
“President Lungu’s appointment of Bank of Zambia Deputy Governor Operations Dr Bwalya Ng’andu as minister of finance is timely and we would like to commend him for coming up with this decision,” Chief Chikwanda said.
He said Dr Ng’andu had the necessary skills and experience to carry out his new role as minister of finance
‘‘The appointment will be able to move Zambia forward because of his experience and skills in the banking and economic sectors having served as Bank of Zambia deputy governor and other senior positions in the banking sector,’’ he said.
Chief Chikwanda was hopeful that the new finance minister would take it up from where his predecessor Margaret Mwanakatwe left and move the economy of Zambia forward amid austerity measures.
He encouraged Dr Ng’andu that he was taking up a very senior and sensitive position therefore should continue from where Ms Mwanakatwe left and identify good economic practices and further build on them for the stability of the country’s economy.
‘‘Ms Margaret Mwanakatwe worked to the best of her ability and I can only hope that Dr Ng’andu will take it up from there ,using his experience and move our economy forward,” Chief Chikwanda said.
Chief Chikwanda said the newly appointed minister of finance should learn lesson from what worked well with his predecessor and improve on them for the betterment of the economy.
He was hopeful that Dr Ng’andu will perform to the expectations of the President and Zambia at large.
