DEFENDER Peter Banda will not be part of the team that will meet Zesco United in the ABSA Cup final match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola this Saturday.

The club’s media office said the central defender was injured in Tuesday’s morning training session at Sunset and was taken to the hospital for scans on his ankle.

Following a preliminary assessment by Zanaco medical team, Banda will be out of action for at least eight weeks.

But the medical team will only reveal the extent of Peter’s injury after further examinations.

Banda has also been ruled out of the 2019 Transitional FAZ/MTN Super League third-fourth play-off match against Buildcon on June 29 at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

Head coach Mumamba Numba has been left to consider his possible central defensive options for the remaining two matches after losing Peter through the injury.

Numba’s other backup centre-back options are Richepin Tchokouaya and Patient Ikamba.

It is also likely that Numba may resort to using either Kelvin Kapumbu or Boyd Musonda in central defense to partner Kevin Owusu.

Numba’s team could however be boosted by the return of strikers Chitiya Mususu and Roger Kola resumed  training after missing out on the semi- final clash against Green Eagles last Saturday due to injury.

The duo will now be available for selection as the team continue preparing for the ABSA Cup final against Zesco United on Saturday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
