DIVINE FAVOUR
FAVOUR – This is defined as an act of kindness beyond what is due or usual
WHAT FAVOUR DOES
- FAVOUR will lift you from the floor to the top
- Favour brings unexpected success and resources.
- Favour brings excellence.
- Favour brings divine speed.
- Favour gives you an extra portion above your contemporaries. Other brothers had one tribe but Joseph had two tribes namely Manasseh and Ephraim.
- It is possible to have fortune without favour but it’s not possible to have favour without fortune.
- Favour will give you access to the throne even if it’s not your time.
KEYS OF FAVOUR
1. GODS PRESENCE – GENESIS 39:3
- The person that has audience with God will have influence on earth
- If God is not too big to listen to you then there will be no man too big not to listen to you.
- Joseph was favoured because God’s presence on his life
2. FAVOURING GOD’S HOUSE – PSALM 102:12-13
- When God’s house becomes your priority, God’s favour becomes your daily portion
- Hannah gave back baby Samuel to God and God gave her more children. She identified a need of a priest in God’s house and she met it.
- Always find ways of improving your church
3. ACTS OF FAVOUR- 1 SAMUEL 30:11
David showed favour to the abandoned gentleman and he too received favour from the same man
4. CHARACTER – DANIEL 6:3
Good character was behind the lifting of Daniel
Good character provokes favour from God
5. PRAYER – PSALM 119:57-58
All those who were favoured in the Bible were prayerful people: Esther, Mary, Joseph, Daniel etc.
6. PERSONAL APPEARANCE
GENESIS 41: 14
The way you dress is the way you will be addressed
Joseph despite being a prisoner dressed well when meeting the king and he was given a good job
7. GOOD UNDERSTANDING/SKILL – PROVERBS 13:15
Ordinary people look for favour but favour looks for skill.
Patients look for a good Dr, problematic cars look for good mechanics, and good lawyers don’t run about police stations looking for who to bail. Skill always attracts favour
8. FAVOUR IGNORES DISADVANTAGES
Joseph had the following disadvantages.
He was a foreigner in a super power country. Under normal circumstances he was not supposed to be a prime minister, but because of favour he was appointed
Joseph was young for such a position. In most countries such positions are reserved for a certain age group.
Joseph was a prisoner at the time of his appointment. The position of prime minister normally doesn’t appeal to prisoners or ex-prisoners
9. FAVOUR BRINGS DIVINE CONNECTION
When God’s favour manifested on Joseph, he was connected to pharaoh.
Favour brings connection to high profile people and governments
10. FAVOUR GRANTS YOU UNLIMITED
Favour brings you opportunities, which your abilities may not provide
Peter was an ordinary fisherman but when favour came, he became an influential in Israel.
