CONSTRUCTION works of Chandamali market shelter in Dr Mubitana ward in Livingstone has cheered marketeers.

The project was abandoned some time back despite being planned and budgeted for under the 2018 ward development fund.

Ward councilor, Miller Iluki said that the project was delayed because of lack of materials such as timber and not what people were thinking.

Mr. Iluki said that timber was bought and delivered to the site to facilitate the works and told the marketeers that the project would be done in no time.

He urged marketeers and residents to exercise patience when it comes to certain issues as there were processes to follow when dealing with such projects.

“The market shelter will be completed within the space of two weeks. All we ask from the marketeers is to always give relevant authorities space to do their work,

“ I have heard reports of people complaining that I have failed to fulfill my promises when they actually do not know that I was working in the background,” he said.

He said that he was a leader that cared for the people, stressing that if someone kept quiet, it did not mean they were not working.

The civic leader further said that the marketeer would no longer have to battle selling in the sun as their merchandise would not be exposed to the rains any more once the project was conpleted.E
