North West PF councillors receive 30 motor bikes

OVER 30 motor bikes worth K750,000 and K1,00o cash for fuel has been handed over to councillors and chiefs retainers in North-Western Province to ease transport challenges.
Foreign Affairs minister Joe Malanji handed over the items and money to 12 councillors and some chief retainers as gesture from government.
Speaking during handover ceremony Mr Malanji said the motor bikes would raise interaction between leaders and members of the community in remote parts of the province.
He said that motor bikes were procured to improve service delivery and party mobilisation.
“We are aware of the challenges councillors and chief retainers go through to interact with people in the community but that will be dealt with for now as we try to strengthen the bond between leaders and the community,” he said.
Mr Malanji said government was enjoying cordial relationship with traditional leaders in the province hence the need to support their retainers.
“Four chiefdoms in the province will benefit from this donation. These are Senior chief Kanong’esha, Senior chief Mujimanzomvu , Senior chief Kalilele and chief Matebo,” he said.
And speaking on behalf of the recipients senior chief Kanong’esha thanked the minister for the donation.
The traditional leader said that the donation would go a long way in helping especially civic leaders in fostering development in their wards.
Chief Kanong’esha who is provincial chairperson of council chiefs said he was grateful to government for the development that was taking place in the Chiefdoms.
