2 teachers arrested for murder

TWO teachers in Mambwe district have been arrested after allegedly shooting dead a wild life officer.
Confirming the incidence, Eastern Province Police Commissioner Lackson Sakala said that the wildlife officer, identified as Benson Njovu, aged 30 years, died on the spot after allegedly being shot by Thomas Njovu, 25, and Morris Phiri, 28, on Tuesday.
“According to the report I have received, the two teachers, Thomas Njovu and Morris Phiri, on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, shot the wildlife officer, Benson Njovu,” stated Mr Sakala.
He said that the incident is reported to have happened around 18:30 hours.
Mr Sakala said the two teachers, of Malama Primary School, are alleged to have grabbed the AK47 rifle from the game scout and used it to commit the murder.
He said the two teachers were currently in police custody awaiting trial and that police had recovered the weapon used to commit the murder.
Mr Sakala said that the police are yet to establish the motive behind the murder.
Mr. Sakala said the body of the deceased was in the Chipata Central Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
