THE Chelstone Local Vourt has divorced a couple that has allegedly not been having sex for two years because the wife accused her husband of having too many girlfriends
This is in a case where 40 year old. Mailesi Njobvu of Mtendere compound sued her husband Bernard Chifwa for a divorce for allegedly denying her conjugal rights for two years.
Njobvu told the court that she and her husband got married in 1990 and that they have five children together.
She told Chelstone local court senior court magistrate Charity Milambo that problems begun when Chifwa got a job in Kaoma in 2005 and stopped visiting her and the children after he stopped calling her.
“I was shocked to learn that my husband had married another woman in Kaoma. When I followed him, three other women followed him the following day claiming that he was their husband,” she said.
But Chifwa said that he married another woman in Kaoma because his wife told him that she did not want to have more children.
He said that he informed his wife of his intentions before marrying another woman and that he brought clothes for the baby after Njovu fell pregnant.
“I’m surprised now that Njobvu refuses to make love to me, she moves out of the matrimonial bedroom every time I come,” he said.
The couple was however granted a divorce and the court ordered Chifwa to compensate Njobvu with K5, 000 with initial payment of K600 followed by monthly installments of K300 and to be paying child maintenance fee of K500 per month.
The couple was also advised to share property that they acquired together equally.
