Kabwata market in salon boom

SALON business has boomed at Lusaka’s Kabwata Market with both female and male entrepreneurs earning a livelihood from it.
One of the happy salon owners Agnes Chola, a hairstylist said Kabwata had become a hub for salon business in Lusaka.
Ms Chola who owns two salons within the market said she was feeding and taking her three children to school from her businesses.
She was speaking in an interview with the Sun yesterday in Lusaka.
“Kabwata market has become more like the central place for salon businesses. There are so many salons in here. We have clients from almost all over Lusaka, and we have people coming all the way from Kafue just to have their hair done here,” she said.
Ms Chola said she was also able to pay her rentals from her salon businesses.
She said she made more profit during the festive season compared to other special seasons.
Meanwhile, Andrew Banda, a worker at one of the salons said the salon businesses was not only for women but men as well.
Mr Banda said it did not matter what kind of job one had provided it satisfied and provided for him or her.
“With the economic hardships that are there these days, one just has to find something to do. These days there is nothing like this job can only be done by women or men, as long as you are able to do it, go ahead and do it,” he said.
He has since encouraged fellow men to find their talent and utilise it.
Mr Banda said it did not pay to be shy and bury a talent because of pride.
