That the Lusaka High Court has ordered the reinstatement of all the 19 Hunting Concession Agreements (HCA) that were illegally cancelled by the Ministry of Tourism,  it is our appeal to President Hakainde Hichilema to now prevail and ensure the Safari hunting tender is signed so that the outfitters could commence their hunting business, Davison Mung’andu has said.

Mr Mung’andu has advised the UPND government to embrace the Safari hunting concessionaires as their own because the people involved in Safari hunting were not affiliated to any political party but were merely in business.

Mr Mung’andu, the Patriotic Front (PF) Chama South Member of Parliament says at this time, there was nothing that government was going to do but to adhere to the High Court directive to reinstate the Safari hunting tender which was canceled in May 2022.

He said when he advised Evans Muhanga, the Ministry of Tourism Permanent Secretary to reconsider his decision, he had meant well and that his advice was without malice.

He advised that the UPND should never look at their past enemies because in politics, current political enemies could be the best friends that could genuinely help to govern the country.

Mr Mung’andu said the business community had no permanent enemies of friends apart from permanent interests in their businesses.

“My appeal now that the High Court has ordered that the 19 Hunting Concession Agreements that were illegally canceled is that President Hichilema should prevail and ensure the Safari hunting tender is signed. Let the UPND government embrace the people in the Safari business as their own…after all, they are presiding over their affairs. We know President Hichilema went through what ordinarily no one should go through but let him learn from his experience and ensure that no one should go through what he went tjrough,” Mr Mung’andu said.

He said he had no time for politics when it came to serving people because according to him, politicking when people were supposed to be working would only destroy the country.

He said his advice to Mr Muhanga to reserve the cancellation of the Safari hunting tender was purely out of love for the country and the people in the business.
