Luangwa Council Chairperson by –elections set for September

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has set 15 September as date for the Luangwa Council Chairperson by –elections.
This follows the nullification of the seat on 24th September 2021 which was held by Mr Lawrence Shaba of the Patriotic Front.
And ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager Patricia Luhanga says following the set date for the elections, nominations will be conducted on Thursday, 25th August, 2022.
Ms. Luhanga since advised aspiring candidates who may wish to contest in by-election that failure to comply with these requirements shall render the nomination papers null and void.
She says Male aspiring candidates for the by-election will be required to pay K3,500, while Female and Youth aspiring candidates are expected to pay K3,000 non-refundable nomination fee
