Excitement grips successful teacher applicants

Excitement has gripped candidates whose names have been published in the papers released this afternoon.
Yesterday the teaching service commission announced that 30,496 applicants were successful and their names will be published in the paper today.
And this morning crowds of expectant unemployed teachers gathered around the publication companies waiting to see the names.
Meanwhile stakeholders in the education sector have expressed confidence that the recruitment will help address the teacher shortages in the country.
Zambia National Education Coalition ZANEC Executive Director George Hamusunga is delighted with the recruitment of over 30,000 teachers and hopes that teacher recruitment will follow with immediate deployment in schools where they are required the most.
Mr. Hamusunga says the introduction of free education called for more teachers in learning institutions and the government’s decision to recruit the 30,496 teachers is a good start.
He has therefore urged the selected teachers to put in their best in working to improve the quality of education in Zambia.
And National Action for Quality Education NAQEZ has urged the selected candidates to work diligently and contribute positively to the education sector.
NAQEZ Executive Director Aaron Chansa says the government and other stakeholders involved have done a great job and hoped for more opportunities in the teaching industry.
Meanwhile, the Zambia federation of disability organization ZAFOD has applauded government for the 196 teachers with disabilities selected following the teacher recruitment exercise.
Federation chairperson Justin Bbakali says government’s affirmative action is a dream come true for the people living with disabilities.
Mr. Bbakali says ZAFOD has for a long time been advocating for the inclusion of people living with disabilities and that the new dawn government is responding positively to the call.
