Peter Sinkamba backs governments decision to settle KCM –Vendata case outside court

Written by on July 13, 2022

Peter Sinkamba has backed the intention by government to settle issues involving Konkola copper mines and Vedanta outside the courts.
Yesterday Mines minister Paul Kabuswe said that the issue will be handled outside the courts because government cannot wait for 2023.
However some stakeholders opposed the intention by government stating that it was suspicious.
But Mr. Sinkamba says settling the issue of Konkola copper mines and Vedanta in the courts will cost the country as it will incur more cost during the liquidation.
Mr. Sinkamba says keeping the matter in court will lead to poor copper production due to the limited operations of the mine while under liquidation.
