POLITICAL players and all officials from different political parties have been cautioned to allow former President Edgar Lungu to enjoy his retirement and avoid dragging him into unnecessary debates, former Siavonga District Commissioner, Lovemore Kanyama, has said

Following remarks which Mr Lungu made at the burial of late President Rupiah Bwezani last Friday, some section of society and political leaders have come under fire for criticising the former head of State.

Mr Lungu’s remarks have sparked a public debate.

However, Mr Kanyama said Mr Lungu and President Hakainde Hichilema should not be dragged into unnecessary tension which does not exist.

Mr Kanyama said in a statement issued to the Daily Nation that the two surviving Presidents should now be given respect to discuss issues of serving and building peace, love and unity amongst Zambians.

He has called on Zambians to understand the context in which President Lungu was trying to drive a point during an interview at the burial site.

Mr Kanyama has underscored that Zambians must understand the term “hypocrisy” and connect with what Mr Lungu meant.

Meanwhile, Mr Kanyama said as a nation the love, peace and unity exhibited during the funeral of the fourth president RB, must be a stepping stone in achieving tranquility in our nation as well amongst our leaders.
