THE suspension of 30 opposition Members of Parliament by the Speaker of the National Assembly is disintegrating democracy and is not healthy for its growth, the Justice for Just Foundation (JJF), has observed.

JJF director, John Kalusa, said in an interview the National Assembly cannot have 30 opposition MPs silenced and hope to have balanced parliamentary debates.

Mr Kalusa said there was need for the Speaker to look at the advantages and disadvantages of suspending the lawmakers before making her final verdict as this entails that most parliamentary decisions will be done without an opposing view.
