IT is hypocritical for the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to ask the ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts why they single sourced Kinglong Motors Limited to supply 50 fuel tankers when there was single sourcing that is going on right now of fertiliser at a higher price than before, governance activist, Isaac Mwanza has said.

Mr. Mwanza said  it was hypocritical for PAC to ask the previous regime why they were single sourcing certain services and purchases of goods but the some people were forgetting the current single sourcing of fertiliser at a much higher price than what was being bought earlier.

He said in an interview that it was such politicking that was defeating the fight against corruption because according to PAC, single sourcing was only wrong when it was done by the previous regime and not the current administration.

Mr. Mwanza said the fight against corruption has failed to yield results that would benefit Zambians because it has always been politicised.

He said the picture created by politicians that all former government officials are corrupt has defeated the noble fight against corruption.

“Immediately there is change of regime those that were in government are deemed to be corrupt even if there was no tangible evidence that was presented because this is a picture that politicians always create for one another,” Mr. Mwanza said.

He said it was sad that former government officials have been deemed corrupt by the government and the trend if not stopped would be part of the country’s governance system.

He said the fight against corruption was a noble cause not only in Zambia but world over which must not be used for settling personal vendettas by politicians or political opponents.

“We must wage it with a clean heart and with a clear direction of what we want to achieve,” Mr. Mwanza said.
