L/stone pupils urged to preserve nature

LEARNERS in Livingstone have been urged to learn to preserve nature through planting trees.
Livingstone District Education Board Secretary (DEBS), Eiden Kambunga, observed that the world was grappling with climate change and therefore leaners must adapt the concept of planting trees and co-existing with wild animals.
He said that there was need to revive school clubs such as chongololo in order impart positive mindset among learners towards nature.
Mr Kambunga was speaking during a training workshop of learners drawn from three schools that are situated near the Mosi-oa-tunya National Park.
The workshop was conducted by Wildlife and Environmental Society of Zambia.
He said that climate change has brought a lot of harm to humanity.
He said that if schools were to reserve the trend of Chongololo clubs, a lot of efforts needed to be put in place in a number of activities and commitments.
Mr Kambunga encouraged the young ones to belong to clubs like Chipembele and Chongololo to learn more on environmental management.
“I therefore, want to encourage leaners to spend their time we’ll by belonging to clubs that can inculcate values that appreciate a friendly environment,” he said.
Mr Kambunga said that a friendly environment could make a learner pass with good marks because it entails clean surrounding, clean water and clean toilets.
