Army worms contained- Kafue

The Fall Army Worms that attacked maize fields in Chiawa area of Kafue district have been contained.

Last month, 460 hectares of maize fields in Chiawa were ravaged by the fall army worms.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS, Kafue District Agriculture Coordinator (DACO) Rutsito Bvunzayi said the maize fields were spread with chemicals, and are now showing signs of recovery.

Mr Bvunzayi revealed that the area is currently receiving continuous rainfall which is favorable for the control of the fall army worms. The Ministry of Agriculture recently dispatched about 220 liters of chemicals for the control of army worms in Kafue district.
