ENTREPRENEURS IMPLORED TO VENTURE INTO BEEKEEPING

Solwezi district commissioner, Rosemary Kamalonga said beekeeping was a good source of income and promoted forest preservation.
Ms Kamalonga said the beekeeping training was important and was being held at the right time when climate change had become a reality due to government has called on local entrepreneurs to explore excessive tree cutting.
She was speaking at the official opening of the Kansanshi Mining Company sponsored beekeeping training held at Kyafukuma Community Hall in Solwezi yesterday.
Speaking at the same event, Kansanshi Mining Company environmental manager, Arnold Malabo appealed to the participants to take the training seriously as it would help improve their livelihood and preserve the environment.
Mr Malabo said the participants must also ensure that they practiced what they learnt during the training and educate other community members who were unable to attend.
And Solwezi district forest technician, John Yowela said the training endeavoured to create community beekeeping working groups who would be supported by the department.
One of the participants, Augustine Kafupi, commended government and the mining company for ensuring that communities especially youths were educated to be innovative to help them reduce in indulging in illicit activities -ZANIS
