Rock FM Radio the organisers of the annual music event Rocktober Festival have announced the disengagement of South Africa’s music superstar AKA as guest performer for this year show.

According to a statement from the radio station, AKA will not be coming for the show set for September 28th at the Showgrounds due to security reasons bordering on Xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

“In light of the prevailing circumstances, it is regrettable Rock FM will not continue with the participation of AKA at this year’s festival,” the statement read.

“ Our mission is safety first for all our fans and attendees including that of  AKA and his team, therefore AKA will not be performing at the event.”

Rock FM’s reaction is triggered by the fact that people of all walks of life have condemned the Xenophobic attacks in South Africa with most of them threatening violence and revenge on South Africa. Others have chosen to boycott anything South Africa including music. Many others have chosen to even riot and vandalise South African linked shops.

The station however insists the Rocktober Festival will gone on as planned but focus mainly on top local entertainers like DJs. There is likelihood that there could be a surprise guest artiste.
