MTN hits 2 million subscriber base (PICTURES)

MOBILE phone operator MTN has grown it subscriber base which now stands at two million, says MTN acting chief executive officer Komba Malukutila.

Mr Malukutila expressed happiness towards the rise in number of subscribers which had crossed the one million mark in less than a decade of existence.

He was speaking at Urban Circus of South Africa performance held at Ngwerere farms in Chamba Valley area where also Zambian local artist Pompi added flavour to the event.

The event which started at 14:00hours at R&G Arena attracted different people from all walks of life.

Children had a lot of fun at the circus while business people had an opportunity to display their foodstuffs.

“I am very excited to be here and to spearhead the first Zambian urban circus. It’s our opportunity to give the country the best because and give back to our local customers whose base has risen tremendously,” he said.

Mr Malukutila spoke of how MTN had endeavored to use entertainment especially music to attract its customers and to make them happy, not forgetting the children too.

He said the advantages with MTN mobile money system was that it helped subscribers to borrow money, shop in stores and also pay water or electricity bills.

“Therefore MTN Zambia encourages Zambians to support and connect with them,” he said
