Son torches house of his father’s lover

POLICE in Mafinga have arrested a 22 year old man of Mafinga District while his brother is on the run for torching a house belonging to the lover of their father.

The incident happened on Tuesday around 23:00 hours at Kangamani Village in Chief Mwenechifungwe’s area of Mafinga District.

Muchinga Province police Commissioner Joel Njase confirmed that  the incident was reported by the victim a Ms Agness Nakanyimbo,52 of Kangamani Village in Chief Mwenechifungwe of Mafinga district.

Mr Njase identified the suspects as Erious Simukoko,25 and his young brother Malizyani Simukoko, 22.

Mr Njase said the victim alleged that the suspects set ablaze her grass thatched house and properties worthy K 4, 525.00 were burnt to ashes.’’

“The brief facts are that the two brother were incensed on learning that their father Mr Isaac Simukoko, 58 had proposed love to Ms Nakanyimbo and wanted to take her as his second wife,” Mr Njase said.

 “In protest of their fathers intentions, the suspects beat up Ms Nakanyimbo and threatened to set her house on fire if she doesn’t stop an affair with their father, but the following day the victim’s house was set ablaze,” he said.

Mr Njase said the officers visited the scene of crime and observed that the house was burnt to ashes.

He said officers collected debris of the burnt property and have since been kept them as exhibits.

Mr Njase said police managed to apprehend Erious while his young brother Malizyani was still on the run.
