THE chiefdom of Sikoongo in Chirundu is more than ready to give land to the local authority for development to benefit of the residents, says Sub-Chief Sikoongo Peter Choonga.
Mr Choonga said was happy and would not delay to give out more land if the council requested for it because the development it had so far delivered was visible.
He said the construction of good roads would now lead to massive development because it is well planned and would make it easy for ZESCO and Lusaka water and Sewerage Company (LWSC) to connect the area into their systems.
Meanwhile, Chief Chipepo has expressed gratitude that some people in his area were cooperating well and ensuring that they did not frustrate the contractor Savenda that was working on the Lusitu water reticulation system.
Speaking to the Sun in a telephone interview yesterday, the chief said the project was now being supervised by the chiefdom following complaints from the contractor that some people were rebellious and vandalized some works.
He said the chiefdom leadership identified some people who were frustrating the works and warned them that he would expel them from the village as the law was very clear to punish those that want to cause violence or bring about conduct that was likely to breach peace.
He said Savenda was on course because the work was supposed to be done in one year and the finances funded by the World Bank have been made available towards the project.
