Ritualists remove fingers, tooth from albino woman

POLICE in Muchinga are investigating the case in which unknown people cut fingers and removed a tooth from a 73 year old albino woman of Mpika.

Provincial police commissioner Joel Njase confirmed the incident that happened on Thursday in Kabulamwikiko Village in Mpika District and identified the victim as Sarah Nsafwa.

‘‘Yes I can confirm that Police are investigating a case involving one Ms Sara Nsofwa aged 73 years old who is an albino of Kabulamwikiko village in Mpika, who  had her  fingers  cut off and 1 tooth removed by unknown people on Thursday,” he said

 Mr Njase said police believed that matter was connected to rituals and strongly warned those involved that their days were numbered.

 ‘‘We shall pursue the matter and ensure that such perpetrator are brought to book and made to answer in accordance with the law,” Mr Njase said.

 Mr Njase said the victim was currently receiving medical attention at undisclosed health facility.

 He advised communities in rural parts of Muchinga to be on high alert and strengthen Community Crime Prevention Units (CCPUs) and report suspicious persons to Police.

He said those seeking wealth using evil means would surely be exposed and arrested.

Meanwhile, a 16 -year old boy of Chinsali has died has died on the spot after a tree he was cutting fell on him.

Mr Njase said the incident occurred on Thursday around 09:00 hours at Chilasa village Chief Nkula’s area.

Mr Njase said that police that rushed to the scene were told that Kelvin Mulenga, the victim, and his cousin Castro Mulenga 12 went to cut trees at their grandfather’s field, Mr Chilasa the village headman.

One of the trees which was being cut down unfortunately fell on Kelvin, injuring him on his head and died on the spot as blood came out from the mouth, ears and eyes.
