THE Dorcas Mothers and Adventist Men Organization (AMO) from Game compound Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA) have donated assorted items to patients at Siavonga District Hospital.
The donations included mealie meal and firewood to the Mother’s Shelter at the same health institution.
Speaking during the donation, Church elder Brian Nyambe said the gesture was meant to ease the burden faced by patients and those taking care of them in line with Jesus’s teaching on helping the vulnerable and the sick.
He said the church was following the commission of Jesus Christ as recorded in the book of Mathew, Mathew 25:36, “I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me,”
Mr Nyambe further commended the hospital staff for taking care of the sick at the Government health institution.
He said the fact that there were only seven patients admitted to the hospital, was enough testimony that health workers at the institution were doing their best to ensure that those seeking treatment got the best care.
“As a church, we are happy to find that this entire big hospital, has only seven people who are admitted to the wards. This is very encouraging and shows that the health workers are doing a good job,” said Mr. Nyambe.
And Siavonga District hospital representative Ms. Judith Mumba Mwale thanked the Dorcas Mother’s and AMO for the donation and called on other churches and organizations to emulate the SDA church.
She said the donation would go a long way in assisting the patients as some of them were underprivileged.
“The donation has come at the right time as some of our patients come from far areas and have no relatives nearby,” she said
