BEACON of Sharing of Chongwe has condemned the recently reported defilement of a one year eleven months’ old baby by its grandfather.
President of Beacon, Mr. Oscar Kaleya told the Sun in an interview that, the increase of child defilement and abuse cases was worrying and must be condemned.
He observed that, defilement endangered innocent lives and destroyed their future.
Commenting on the case of a 39 year old man of Libuko village in Chongwe district who defiled his one year eleven months’ grand-daughter who was briefly left in his care by the mother, Mr Kaleya deeply regretted the incident.
“We strongly condemn such acts. Men must not be deceived to believe that they can be cured of a chronic illness or become rich when we have sex with a minor,
“ This is not possible, we have no testimonies of people who got healed after defiling a minor. The only sure way to healing is seeking medical attention and if you want riches, then work hard. We must not destroy innocent lives like animals, this is barbaric,” he said.
Mr. Kaleya called on the law enforcement agencies to really do their work and not to spare perpetrators of child abuse and or defilement.
He hoped that the courts would also give stiff punishment to the destroyers of innocent lives.
Mr. Kaleya bemoaned the rise of child abuse cases in Chongwe and revealed that his organization was investigating reports of guardians who were abusing minors and warned that they would not take kindly to such acts.
He warned that perpetrators of any form of child abuse would face the wrath of the law.
