FOOTBAL Association of Zambia (FAZ) has secured an additional $15 000 of the $100, 000 acrequired to hire a high profile national soccer team coach.

FAZ communications manager Mwazipeza Chanda confirmed to the Sun Sport that the Association had secured US$15,000 in addition to the $10, 000 already offered by the State towards the salary of the head coach.

The Ministry of Sports has sanctioned the decision by FAZ to recruit a quality national team coach and approve a US$25,000 salary package for the same.

Chanda said that following a meeting between the FAZ leadership and the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Child Development, the two parties agreed to make progress towards recruiting a high-profile coach.

Chanda said that the Ministry had requested FAZ to recruit a coach as soon as is feasibly possible.

She said that Sports Minister Moses Mawere had re-affirmed government’s financial commitment of US$10,000 towards the Chipolopolo coach’s monthly salary.

She appealed to the corporate world to support FAZ in its quest to recruit a top notch coach.

“We ask the football family to support the cause towards securing a coach that will take Zambia forward,” she said.
