Musician Shyman has started a charity project of collecting reading books and toys in the United States of America where he is currently staying to give to the people in need back home in Zambia.

The artiste who is trying to lead by example and live his own message in the song ‘  says he is inspired to do this as a way of giving back.

“I am collecting  books ,Toys ,Shoes ,clothes that can be used back home .And donating them to Community  schools and so on,” he says.

“So far I told my high school  friend Lweendo Khumalo a Zambian based here who spoke to her friend and  together we have organized books which will go to Nsobe Trust school where I am ambassador.

We are not looking  at helping  only my school  Nsobe Trust school but any other school that might need this.”

Shyman says he has further engaged himself in various fundraising projects to see that the initiative takes off.

“ So far we have raised half of what is needed  to export the books. We need like $1200 we have already  raised 600. Besides that, I took part in a fundraiser  event  in Atlanta  organized  by Atlanta  Zambian women with Influence in raising  funds for 120 orphaned girls of Lukomba Primary  and secondary  in  Kapiri,”he says.

“I  also have performed  at no fee at the Zambian  event which was in DC to help raise funds for the Albino  shelter in Zambia. Even though I feel my music is getting  buried  and not  recieving  much airplay  back home, it’s helping  me do good for my people back home.”

Shyman says his music is bringing the change and life he wants to see.

“ Like my song Tandizo says, Ilipo Tandizo,Osalindila bantu bena ,Ise pano ndise Tandizo,’ (there is help always, don’t wait for other people to give help, we are the help’). So we are sending  55 to 60 boxes as soon as we have reached the targeted $1200 for shipping,” he explains.

“The project is called Komana Foundation:Komana means Joy and that’s what we trying  to do is to  bring joy in ones life.”
