A MAN of Lusaka’s Libala Township has been ordered by the Boma Local Court to compensate a woman of Bauleni with K8, 000 for damaging her daughter’s virginity.
This was in a case in which Mary Mwangobo dragged Richard Kashinge to court for deflowering and impregnating her daughter in 2011.
Mwangobo told Senior Local Court Magistrate Juliet Mwila that when she discovered her daughter was pregnant, she was told that it was Kashinge who was responsible.
“We called and asked him the way forward. We charged him K5, 000 for violating my daughter’s virginity but we are still waiting up to now because he hasn’t paid anything,” Mwangobo said.
In defence Kashinge did not deny the allegations and promised to start paying what he was charged at the month end.
The court found that Kashinge was guilty upon his own admission and Magistrate Mwila ordered him to compensate Mwangobo with K8, 000 in monthly installments of K500 effective July 30, 2019.
