THE Olympic youth Development Centre (OYDC) has continued to win kudos from different sports associations both local and international for its continued contribution to the development of sport in Zambia.

The centre director Frederick Chitangala said that OYDC had been recognized as a high performance centre by the Association of Sport Performance Centres (ASPC).

Chitangala told the Sun Sport that the Spain-based association has since accepted OYDC’s membership.

He said that his organization has been invited to attend the 11th ASPC International Forum on Elite Sport 2019 to take place in Barcelona on the October 10 and 11.

The forum was expected to be attended by many African countries and it will see countries being united and strengthened in the development of sport in the region

“ I would like to extend our profound gratitude to the Board of ASPC for recognizing OYDC as one of the “High Performance Centres” in the region,.

“This truly demonstrates our commitment to exemplary service delivery and commitment to creating a true centre of excellence in OYDC,” he said

ASPC started in September 1999 in Sydney, Australia when a group of High Performance Training Centres from all over the world decided to combine efforts to share their experiences during the 1st Forum on Elite Sport.

The association only accepts membership from any Sport Performance Centre that was recognized by a National Olympic Committee, Paralympic Committee and/or government of that nation or recognized by an International Sports Federation (IF) or National Sport Federation of a country where the centre is located.

Chitangala wished to see more people coming on board to partner with OYDC for the facility to remain a pride of Africa which nurtured, and inspired young talented sports persons that reigned supreme to bring glory to Zambia
