MAN ‘CLUBS’ WIFE TO DEATH

A 44-YEAR-OLD man of Mikomfwa Township in Luanshya has allegedly beaten his wife to death following a quarrel.

Phillip Zulu allegedly beat his wife to death using a wooden handle of an axe after the couple engaged in an argument.

Copperbelt Province Commissioner of Police Charity Katanga identified the victim as Grace Zulu, 39, a teacher at Mazheri Primary School.

Mrs Katanga said the murder happened at the weekend between 20:00 hours and 20:30 hours.

She said Zulu fled the house shortly after bludgeoning his wife to death and that he was still on the run.

Mrs Katanga said Mrs Zulu’s body was in Roan General Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

She said police were looking for Zulu to help with investigations.

Ms Katanga appealed to members of the public to help police with information that could lead to the arrest of Phillip Zulu.

Meanwhile, deputy police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga says a 30-year-old man of Chunga Township in Lusaka has been murdered.

Mr Hamoonfa said Guyi Simutanda is believed to have been killed by unknown people between Friday at around 22:00 hours and today Saturday at around 02:00 hours at Chunga Sewage.

He said Mr Simutanda’s sister, Mable Mushipi, 33, of house number 2043 Chunga Township reported that she his body had been found at the dams after she was alerted by some members of the public.

Upon inspecting the body the whole skin covering the genitals was removed using a suspected sharp instrument which was found at the scene.

Mr Simutanda left his home on Friday around 21:30 hours in Kanyama Township to go and attend a funeral at a sister’s place and was allegedly attacked on the way.

The body has since been picked and deposited at the university Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
