Ten Zambia-based foreign super league stars for AfCON

TEN Zambia-based foreign Super league stars have made it to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament to be held in Egypt.

But missing from the number are ZESCO United’s Kenyan defender Antony Akumu who has been left out of his county’s final AfCON bound list while his club teammate David Owino and Nkana’s Musa Mohamed have made the cut.

Lusaka Dynamos duo of Willy Stephanus and Petrus Tshitembi are in the Namibia national team final squad for AfCON while club-mate defender Tiberius Lombard has been dropped from the team.

Burundi national team has the highest number of players plying their trade in the Zambian league that have made the  national team final 23 man squad for the 2019 Egypt tournament.

ZESCO’s midfielder Enock Sabamukama, Transitional league joint top scorer Laudit Mavugo is among the strikers, Buildcon defender David Nshimirimana and a Dynamos goalkeeper Arthur Mac Arakaza have all made it to the tournament.

Zimbabwe’s Power Dynamos midfielder Jimmy Dzingai has made it in his country’s final 23 AfCON bound team while his Zanaco compatriot Tafadwa Rusike was conspicuously dropped from the team.

The final list of Zambnia-based foreign stars bound for the AfCON is as follows:

3. Enock Sabumukama ( Burundi/ Zesco United)

4. Laudit Mavugo ( Burundi/ Napsa Stars)

5.David Owino ( Kenya/ Zesco United)

6. Musa Mohammed ( Kenya/ Nkana FC)

7. Petrus Shitembi ( Namibia/ Lusaka Dynamos)

8. Willy Stephanus ( Namibia/ Lusaka Dynamos)

9. Hassan Kessy ( Tanzania/ Nkana)

10. Jimmy Dzingai ( Zimbabwe/ Power Dynamos)
