Africa Union economic council moves to Zambia

The African Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council, (AU-ECOSOCC) headquarters will this June move to Zambia from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

AU-ECOSOCC Zambian chapter chairperson Dean Mulozi said that Zambia had been chosen to host the 3rd General Assembly of the African Union – Economic, social and cultural council (ECOSOCC) from the 10 – June 14 in Lusaka.

He said that it was the first that that Zambia would be hosting the event since the establishment of the AU organ in 2004.

Mr Mwanga further said that hosting of the Assembly would culminate into the groundbreaking ceremony for the building of the ECOSOCC secretariat, which will be hosted by Zambia after its relocation from Addis Ababa Ethiopia.

“I am pleased to inform you that the aftermath of the General Assembly will culminate into the ground breaking ceremony for the building of the secretariat which will be hosted by Zambia,

 “We would like to thank the Zambian Government through the ministry of foreign Affairs for being steady fast and ready in its preparation to host the secretariat,” he said

Mr Mwanga said that almost all the AU members will attend the Assembly from the five regions and that the event would discuss pertinent issues of the organ as well as elect new office bearers in the standing committee.
