Beijing – A man woke up from a boozy night out to discover his penis has been chopped off.
Tan Nan had been eating and drinking with friends when he became so drunk he fell asleep.
When he woke up the following morning he felt a sharp pain in his nether regions and looked down and found that his genitals had been cut off.
Only a little skin was connected, local paper SETN reported.
Police are investigating the baffling case which happened in China.
Tan told officers he has no idea who was responsible for the cruel prank.
According to the Sanxiang Metropolis Daily, the 44-year-old from Huaihua, Hunan, was bleeding profusely at the time.
Several hospitals apparently turned him away as they were not equipped for such an operation.
Finally, he was taken to Changsha Hospital and treated by microsurgery experts.
Dr Wu Panfeng said usually parts of the body that had been amputated should be kept in a dry, refrigerated manner.
During the operation, the doctor found that the cut “penis and urethral sponge” were indented into the foreskin at both ends.
After seven hours of surgery, the genitalia was successfully reattached.
Now he is recovering and doing well, said medics.
Blood flow around his genitals is apparently good.
However, it remains to be seen whether the urinary function and sexual function can be restored. The doctor believes that it is expected to gradually recover.
The police have been notified about the attack and are looking into it, but the victim is still not fully recovered enough to face questions.
