8 ESCAPE FROM SINDA POLICE CELLS

POLICE in Sinda, Eastern Province, have mounted a manhunt for eight suspects who escaped from lawful custody at the newly opened Sinda Police Station.
The inmates escaped in the early hours of Friday around 01:00 hours after using an unknown object to cut a steel burglar bar on a toilet window.
In an interview, Eastern Province Commissioner of Police Luckson Sakala told the Sun that out of the eight men, whose names he withheld, some were suspects facing various offences and waiting to appear in court while others had been convicted by the court for various offences.
He said the police believed the suspects accessed the window by climbing on the toilet pan.
“Yes, as police in Sinda, we have launched a manhunt for eight suspects who escaped from lawful custody.
“They escaped in the early morning of Friday 17th May, 2019 around 01:00 hours after using an unknown object to cut a steel metal burglar bar forming part of a toilet window security frame of the modern police cells at the newly opened Sinda police offices,” Mr Sakala said.
He said the men were in the cells at Sinda Police because there was a mobile court session taking place.
Mr Sakala appealed to members of the public to cooperate with police by providing information as the exercise of looking for the men is underway.
