A NDOLA woman has dragged her father to court for attempting to repossess the plot he gave her and telling her that she was only a caretaker at the plot.

Charity Kunda 31, of Chipulukusu township sued her father Roson Mwewa 80 for causing confusion at her plot.
She told the court that Mr Mwewa was her biological father who used to work in one of the banks in Ndola.

Ms Kunda said when her father retired, he asked her mother to take all his nine to their grandmother in the village in Serenje.
She said while they lived with their grandmother, only their mother visited them and that their father abandoned them for years.
They grew up and even got married in the village.

“One day in 2009 when my mother visited us in the village, our father called and said he wanted all of us to join him in Ndola since he had an opportunity to give out plots to people,” she said.
She said they all refused to go back to Ndola because they were settled in the village and had farms and livestock to take care of.

Ms Kunda said their father insisted that they all move to Ndola with their families and that was how they left everything in the village and came to Ndola.

The case came before Mapalo Local Court senior presiding magistrate Judith Bwalya sitting with Ntembe Sakala.
“When we came here, my father being the chairman showed us pieces of land and wrote our names in the book indicating that the plots belonged to us,” she said.

Ms Kunda said she built a small house on her plot and that after a few months it had cracks and was not safe to live in.
She said she had opportunity to exchange her plot with someone who had a house and she told her father and he agreed.

Ms Kunda said a few months after she had shifted to her new house, her father went at the plot and told the person developing the property to stop doing the work, arguing that the plot was his.

She said when she approached him, he told her that the plot was his and that she was just a caretaker.
Ms Kunda said she went to the chairman so that he could help solve the problem.
