A NDOLA housewife has narrated that her husband’s relatives invited his girlfriend to feed him in her presence while he was admitted to a hospital.
She said her father-in-law chased her from the hospital as he was not comfortable with her being at his son’s bedside but instead brought the girlfriend to be feeding him.
Ronnie Chembo 27, of Jacaranda Villa said this before Ndola’s Kabushi Local Court presiding magistrate Mildred Namwizye sitting with Evelyn Nalwizya.
Her husband, Chibela Mwelwa of Hillcrest had sued her for divorce, claiming she had abandoned the matrimonial home after he was involved in a road traffic accident
But Ms Chembo blamed her husband for the differences in their home, stating that he had a girlfriend by the name of Maria.
Ms Chembo said she differed with the husband in 2017 and a few months later he was involved in an accident.
She said when she refused to leave the hospital, the entire family decided to have meeting in the hospital to talk about the problems she faced with her husband.
Ms Chembo said despite everyone’s hatred towards her, she decided to continue being at her
She said her husband’s girlfriend used to come to the hospital every day and chat with the entire family and mocked her.
Ms Chembo said when her husband was discharged, he went to stay with his family members, who fed him with wrong information which he believed.
“When I told him how I was treated while he was in the hospital, he just told me that I was a jealousy woman and that he did not know exactly what happened since he was sick,” she said.
But Mr Mwelwa said after he was discharged from the hospital, his wife packed her belongings and left.
“When I was discharged from the hospital, she told me my family mistreated her and brought another woman to be feeding me in her presence,” he said.
“It’s been two years from the time she left. I want to give her the freedom she wants and that is why I am divorcing her so that she can be free,” he said.
The court granted divorce as the two parties have lived separately for two years and that the woman was no longer interested in the marriage.
