Boy steals lime light at National Draught Championship

TWELVE year old William Chizewe stole the limelight at the just ended 5th National Draught 64 championship held at the Olympic youth Development centre OYDC after he finished third.
The tournament attracted strongest players from   across Zambia in in preparation the Russia Draught World Cup in September.
Some of the notable players that participated are Grandmaster International (GMI) Lukanga Mambwe  a 2016 Gold medalist in Rapid Tournament, who also represented Zambia at the World Championship in 2017 and was currently the reigning  African Champion in Draughts-64. 
The tournament also had a guest player from the Democratic Republic of Congo GMI Richard Mwamba, winner of the first African Draughts-64 Championship in 2016 and in 2017 who represented his country at the World Championship in Saint Petersburg, Russia. 
The tournament ended with guest player GMI Mwamba tied with Federation Master (FM) Elias Munkodia at 14 points but GMI Mwamba emerged champion on additional criteria while 12 year old William Chizewe took third place with 12 points after beating FM Kennedy Phiri in the final round.
