Car kills Solwezi man

A 63 YEAR old man of Mushindamo, Geoffrey Selembe died on the spot after a being hit by an over speeding vehicle on the Chingola-Solwezi Road.
Provincial commissioner of Police Hudson Namachila confirmed the fatal accident which occurred at Kibombomena area after a Toyota Vitz registration number ATB 4112 lost control and hit the pedestrian.
Mr Namachila identified the driver as Michael Mizina, 36, of Mitech area in Solwezi and the deceased as Geoffrey Selembe of Selembe Village in Chief Kalilele chiefdom.
The commissioner said the victim sustained fatal head injuries, with suspected broken left leg and cuts on the body causing loss of blood and died while being rushed to Solwezi General Hospital
He said the body was deposited in the mortuary for post mortem.
Mr Namachila said the driver reported himself to police after the accident and will soon appear in court for causing death by dangerous driving.
