A 33-year old traditional doctor identified as Emmanuel Kasuba of Kabalika village in Chief Mibenge of Mansa district, has been arrested by Samfya Police for allegedly administering some herbs locally known as “Kalola” to a person who subsequently died.

Confirming the incident to the Sun in a statement, Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo identified a victim as Rodgers Chapo, 49 years of Sakana village of Chief Kalasamukoso in Samfya district.

Ms Katongo said this occurred on March 14, 2019 around 22:00 hours at the traditional doctor’s residence.

“The man had gone to seek medical attention on behalf of his biological daughter aged 20, who has epilepsy and in the process was named to be a witch after the divination and was administered with kalola in order to be cleansed,” Ms Katongo said.

The concoction is believed to have caused the death of the man and the traditional healer was arrested in the process.

She said the suspect was currently detained in police custody and will appear in court soon.
