LUSAKA’s John Howard Three councilor, Kafula Mutale, says tree planting is important because it will help mitigate the effects of climate change and global warming.

Speaking during a tree-planting programme, organized by the Lusaka South Development Initiative (LSDI) on Saturday at John Howard Police Post, said that the planting of trees will help keep the country green and healthy.

“Last Saturday, I took time to plant trees in our Ward 3, together with community members, and my ward development Committee, and our all-weather partners calling themselves Lusaka South Development Initiative,

The civic leader commended the youth for the initiative to come together to try and make a difference in the community rather than just lazy around in their communities.

The tree planting event was done in line with Sustainable Development Goal number 13 on Climate Change.
