A NDOLA woman has been divorced for attempting to committee suicide each time she differed with her husband.

Kelvin Kaluba 37 had sued his wife Evelyn Kunda 26 for divorce for threatening to take her life each time they had a misunderstanding in the home.

Mr Kaluba told the court that they got married last year and have one child together.

“From the time I married this woman, I have never had peace in my life because I am always worrying what would happen to her. Each time we differed, she takes toxic substances such as kerosene to try and kill herself,” he said.

He said he was not at peace as one day she could kill herself and land him in problems.

Mr Kaluba was testifying before Kabushi Local Court Senior presiding magistrate Agnes Mulenga Muswema sitting with Mildred Namwizye and Evelyn Nalwizya.

He said he was tired of being in a marriage and wanted to let the woman go.

“One day when she went to her parents’ home, I received a text from her father saying she had killed herself. I was so worried and only felt better when she came back home,” he said.

In her statement, Ms Kunda said when they got married they lived well until she discovered that her husband had another wife.

She said the only reason she wanted to kill herself was because her husband stopped spending nights at home and was not caring for her.

“The time he was marrying me, he told me he only had three children but after I looked after his children, I discovered he had another wife,” she said.

She said the only reason her husband wanted to divorce her was because he wanted to marry another woman whom he been seeing each time he lied that he had gone for work as he was a truck driver.

Ms Kunda said she still loved her husband but the problem was that he brought another woman at home.
