Angela Nyirenda, Esther keen to promote Zed culture

Following a successful launch of the Mambwe Vs. Ngoni music video early this month, Zambian music songbirds Esther Namunga and Angela Nyirenda are keen to continue producing music meant to promote the country’s culture.
The two singers who collaborated on the song Mambwe Vs. Ngoni, an account of the cultures and lifestyles of the two tribes, are now focusing on working together to promote Zambian culture and tourism.
The song, ‘Mambwe Vs Ngoni’ was produced by seasoned musician Moses Sakala and its video was launched on the 8th of February at a special ceremony held at Ndozo Lodge in Lusaka’s Mimosa area.
This event was attended by several music followers, entertainment journalists and musicians. Veteran musician Ballad Zulu was among the invited guests who noted that what Esther and Angela have done must be commended. He said this is mainly because they are performing authentic music that will live the test of time and be used to preserve cultural norms.
After this successful video launch, Angela and Esther are now looking to launch Esther’s full album called ‘Destination Mbala’.
“Destination Mbala is an album that will promote the culture of the Mambwe-Lungu speaking people of Northern Province of Zambia. This is the album I plan to launch in Mbala itself and help highlight the tourism potential in Northern Province,” said Esther.
