J.O.B. gets personal on his ‘Dear Brother’

Musician Job Mwanamwalye, known in the music circles as J.O.B., has made several personal revelations about his music career and friendship with one of Zambia’s popular hip hop stars, Bobby East.
This follows the release of his latest single called ‘Dear Brother’ which is seemingly an open letter to Bobby East, whom he started his music career with.
The rapper, singer and producer penned ‘Dear Brother’ as a response to what seems to have been a direct reference to him on one of the Bobby East songs where he narrates how he started out as a backup artiste to J.O.B.
Most music followers especially hip hop critics have described J.O.B.’s single as straight-talking and emotional – typical of the hip hop culture.
On the song, J.O.B is lamenting on how his friend [Bobby East] has not been there for him. He shares what dreams both had when they were starting out but have all be broken because of his brother’s absence. He further highlights moments when his life faced various obstacles like losing his lover, and him getting ill but still received no love from his friend.
“The song is emotional. Such moments are rare in Zambian music, honesty on tracks?” wondered hip hop critic SangaTembo whose reaction is shared by many other followers alike.
But what is Bobby East’s response to this deep song bordering on friendship?
“Woke up to the equivalent of a diss record from my brother today…..That sh**t broke my heart, I love and admire that man. It’s easy to forget I had my own demons coz I am successful now…” Bobby stated on his Twitter.
“If your names are J.O.B., SlapDee or Ben Blazer then you are my OG for life, I will never slander your name in public, no matter what; my side of the story dies with me.”
