Stop the fight! Malunga tells boxing manager.

CHRIS Malunga, the Oriental Quarries Boxing promoter, says administrators of the sport should put aside personal agendas and unite in order to grow boxing.
Mr. Malunga says the future of the sport will be threatened if the managers keep attacking one another and work in isolation.
He said speaking in an interview with The Sun in Lusaka yesterday.
He said that, “My personal observation is that they have to work as a team as they were elected and they must take out their personal interest from the sport.”
“They should reduce attacking each other on WhatsApp groups,” he stated.
Malunga said it is sad that the administrators are busy fighting one another instead of developing the sport.
He cited an example of the Zambia Boxing Federation president who, shortly after being elected to office, threatened to deal with his general secretary. “Instead of attacking each other, let them generate good ideas for developing the sport. They should discuss how to talk to the corporate world for sponsorship,” Malunga said.
Meanwhile, ZBF has postponed its Annual General Meeting (AGM) which was scheduled to be held yesterday.
The postponement was a result of disagreements over the sudden hike of the federation affiliation fee, from K500 to K750.
Some affiliate clubs are opposed to the hike saying it is not in their best interest as they are currently struggling to pay the K500.
Secretary general, Bright Chomba, says the postponement of meeting of the meeting is in line with article 9.1 of the constitution, and is intended to allow the executive review the concerns raised by the affiliates.
